Portland Real Estate made a turnaround in 2013 and prices are on the way up. It has become a “Seller’s Market” again, meaning there are more Buyers wanting to buy than there are Sellers wanting to sell, which forces prices up. With interest rates at historic lows and more people able to buy we expect real estate prices to continue to climb again in 2013. We are on the up cycle and it feels good.
My message to SELLERS; if you are planning to sell this year, don’t wait until spring when huge numbers of houses go on the market driving the prices down. Sell now while there is pent up demand. If your house is in good, well maintained condition and priced competitively you may have multiple offers.
My message to BUYERS; Meet with a good mortgage broker so you know what you can afford because you must have a Preapproval Letter when you make an offer. Research the market online, attend Open Houses and get a good real estate broker who is willing to take the time to work with you so you can spot a good value when you see it. Your broker will need to check daily for new listings for you.
